Innovation in Our DNA: The Convergence Story
Since 1984, Convergence Media Ltd has been at the forefront of digital evolution. We don’t just follow trends, we build the predictive foundations for the next “big thing” often before it even has a name.
1980s - Digital Media Big Bang - Founded by brothers Paul and Steve Harris, we hit the ground running by pioneering digital media entertainment and automated control systems, showcasing the future of digital music at Expo 86 alongside legendries like Bob Moog, Ray Kurzweil, Roland Music and EMU Systems.
1990s - Internet Multimedia Bandwidth Optimization - Before the world had PDFs or Amazon, we were developing pre-JPEG image compression used by Kodak and Polaroid. This led to automation of multimodal e-catalogs and some of the internet's first secure e-commerce platforms. We built data center social media systems used by giants like Microsoft, Softbank and Hearst Publishing long before "social media" was a household term.
2000 / 2010s - Redefining Personal Health Monitoring - Based on chip innovation trajectories we knew the next frontier was on the wrist. Convergence helped deliver the world’s first heart rate monitor smartwatch under the Basis Science brand. Our breakthrough sensor technology, measuring everything from heart rate, motion, sweat to systolic blood pressure, sparked a high-stakes bidding exchange between Apple, Samsung, and Intel (who landed the acquisition).
2020s - The New Frontier: Private, Cloudless, Secure AI - Today, we are tackling the most critical challenge of the modern era: Private Data Sovereignty. In an age of mass data online siphoning, IP theft and personal profile exploitation, Convergence is focused on Tier 2 private offline plug and play AI nodes.
We are empowering individuals, homes and business with secondary high-performance, agentic AI assistance that stays secure and offline. By leveraging on-device compound reasoning LLMs, precision RAG and secure agents, we ensure that the power of AI serves only you, without ever having to expose your personal files or creative inspirations online – nor further feed the Tier 1 AI central data center manipulation algorithms.
